In April 1942, G. F. Zaitsev was awarded the rank of lieutenant, he was assigned to the anti-aircraft artillery regiment, he fought at Moscow, on Mozhayskoe direction, near Riga, where he met the Victory Day.
In 1953, G. F. Zaitsev graduated from Artillery radio engineering academy Soviet army. In 1954 he entered in adjuncture of the Kiev graduate radioengineering Academy of antiaircraft defense. In 1957 he graduated academy and defended his thesis. During 1958 - 1985 years G. F. Zaitsev - teacher, deputy head of department, head of department of automation and remote control of Kiev military Academy of radioengineering antiaircraft defense.
In 1960 he was awarded the rank of associate professor, and in 1963 he was awarded the rank of "Colonel Engineer."
In 1968 he defended his doctoral thesis. In 1971 he was awarded the title of professor. From 1976 to March 1985 G. F. Zaitsev - Head of Specialized Council on defending candidate theses of Kiev military Academy of radioengineering anti aircraft defense, a member of the specialized council on doctoral theses at the military academy of radioengineering.
After his release from the army G. F. Zaitsev from May 1986 to April 1991 held the position of lead designer of Special Design Bureau of linear motors.
In subsequent years, Gregory Frolovych focuses on scientific and educational activities. From December 1991 to September 1995 G. F. Zaitsev - Professor of the Kiev Institute of Communications, from September 1996 - Professor of the Kiev Military management and communications, and from 2002 - Professor of the State University of informational on department of radio technologies.
Particularly significant contribution G. F. Zaitsev made in the theory of automatic control. He published over 280 scientific papers, including 39 monographs, textbooks and manuals. He owns more than 30 patents and six patents. Professor G. F. Zaytsev trained 22 candidates and 5 PhD, founded and headed the scientific academy on problems of improving the dynamic performance and accuracy of automatic control.
According to research in the theory of automatic control in 1976 G. F. Zaitsev was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science of the Ukrainian SSR" and in 1991 for a series of monographs about invariance theory and its application in automatic control it awarded the honorary title of laureate of State Prize of Ukraine.
